CALLING ALL BIRDERS!

Join the Coast Fork Birders for the 20th Cottage Grove Christmas Bird Count! All levels of bird enthusiasts are encouraged to take part in this great community science effort while learning from experienced birders. Be sure to bring your birding gear, weather appropriate clothing and lunch to get you through the day.
To participate, please contact Grace by email at GraceLovesBirds1@gmail.com (please provide a contact telephone within your email) or 817-975-4936 as soon as possible to optimize placement into a birding sector of your preference.

WHAT-
The CBC is an annual census of birds conducted in winter by volunteer birdwatchers and administered by the National Audubon Society. The CBC is the longest-running community science survey in the world. You can learn more about the CBC here.

WHY-
The purpose is to provide population data for use in science, especially conservation biology, though many people participate for recreation.

WHEN & WHERE-
There are different time frames and levels of participation available, so everyone can join in!
Choose to be a field counter and move around in assigned areas within the Christmas Bird Count circle, or a feeder counter and count the birds within your yard or any place of your choosing within the CBC circle. It’s helpful to have a bird feeder in your yard, but not necessary. Areas are available for individuals in wheelchairs and with limited mobility. The time commitment will vary based on your activity choice.
