 h Cottage Grove Christmas Bird Count! All levels of bird enthusiasts are e
 ncouraged to take part in this great community science effort while learni
 ng from experienced birders. Be sure to bring your birding gear\, weather 
 appropriate clothing and lunch to get you through the day. \nTo participat

 ssible to optimize placement into a birding sector of your preference.\n\n
 WHAT-\nThe CBC is an annual census of birds conducted in winter by volunte
 er birdwatchers and administered by the National Audubon Society. The CBC 
 is the longest-running community science survey in the world. You can lear
 n more about the CBC here.\n\nWHY-\nThe purpose is to provide population d
 ata for use in science\, especially conservation biology\, though many peo
 ple participate for recreation. \n\nWHEN & WHERE-\nThere are different tim
 e frames and levels of participation available\, so everyone can join in! 
 \nChoose to be a field counter and move around in assigned areas within th
 e Christmas Bird Count circle\, or a feeder counter and count the birds wi
 thin your yard or any place of your choosing within the CBC circle. It’s
  helpful to have a bird feeder in your yard\, but not necessary. Areas are
  available for individuals in wheelchairs and with limited mobility. The t
